BIO
Before his teaching career, Sean Bennett had an extensive industry background which included positions with a Freightliner dealership, and Mack Trucks Inc.
His first teaching assignments were as a Corporate Trainer for Mack Trucks where he taught and helped develop courses in engine management electronics, engine overhaul, multiplexing, and chassis systems.
In 1989, he joined the faculty at Toronto’s Centennial College where he taught diesel fuel and engine management systems.  In 1991, he became Program Coordinator of the Diesel, Truck, Coach and Heavy Equipment Department, and in this position, led a faculty team that schooled technicians at entry, apprenticeship, and corporate levels.  During his tenure at Centennial College, Sean chaired Motive Power Curriculum Development Committees for the Province of Ontario in Truck, Heavy Equipment, Powerlift Truck, Transmission Specialist, Trailer, and Motorcycle Technician Programs. In all these motive power technician programs, Sean had the responsibility of designing the learning outcomes to a competency-based model that better suited the learning style and industry requirements of entry level technicians.
During his tenure at the college, Sean negotiated and launched joint Centennial and industry technician development partnerships with Volvo-Mack Trucks, Daimler  Trucks, and Cummins.
In 2009, he left Centennial to devote himself to full time writing. He has now authored over thirty textbooks addressing automotive, diesel engine, heavy equipment, and truck technology, including the best selling Heavy Duty Truck Systems (now in 7th edition) and Medium/Heavy Duty Truck Engines, Fuel and Computerized Management Systems (now in 6th edition).
Sean has an extensive network of contributing instructors across the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Asia and Europe and regards the feedback and suggestions from both teachers and students as a key to maintaining currency and pedagogical effectiveness in his writing.  His conference travel schedule extends from Coast to Coast and he is a frequent guest speaker at seminars and convocations. He has mostly recently delivered presentations to the faculty of Beijing Polytechnic automotive and truck departments and the annual ASE conferences.
